About Extended Producer Responsibility

What is EPR?

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is an environmental policy approach that makes producers responsible for the entire lifecycle of their products — including collection, recycling, and disposal of packaging waste.

Under Kenya's Environmental Management and Coordination Act and the EPR Regulations 2021, all producers and importers who introduce packaged products into the Kenyan market are required to register with NEMA and subscribe to an approved Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO).

This portal allows the public to verify which producers have fulfilled their EPR obligations and are currently compliant.
